The Best Duluth Area Hikes

There’s a lot of reasons that Outside Magazine named Duluth the Best Town in America, and our trail system is a big one.

Duluth Hikes from Beacon Pointe

Beacon Pointe to Canal Park
Distance: 5 miles round trip

We know you’re choosing Beacon Pointe to avoid the crowds and craziness that abounds in Canal Park, but in our opinion, it’s always worth a visit. It’s just not a pleasant place to spend the night.

A few of our favorite spots along the way are Lake Place ParkFitger’s Brewhouse and Portland Malt Shoppe (take the stairs to the Fitger’s complex and turn right on Superior Street).

Once you arrive in Canal Park and have taken in the pebble beach and lighthouse, take a stroll through the unique, local shops on Canal Park Drive and Lake Avenue.

Brighton Beach at Sunrise - Duluth
Beacon Pointe to Brighton Beach/Kitchi Gammi Park
Distance: 10 miles round trip

This hike will take you through the cozy neighborhood of Lakeside on your way to Kitchi Gammi Park. Since this is a longer hike we recommend you stop at Amity Coffee for snacks and caffeine. If you’re looking for something more substantial check out New London Cafe or Sammy’s Pizza.

Yeah, 1o miles makes for a long walk. But it’s only an hour by bike. You knew your stay includes complimentary bike rentals, right?
