snowmobiling

Shred some of the most iconic trails that the Midwest has to offer. With hundreds of miles of interconnecting trails and freeriding options, you’ll want to ensure you put in for a few extra days off work.

146 miles of rugged wilderness trail riding is what you’ll find on the iconic C.J. Ramstad / North Shore State Trail, stretching from Grand Marais to Duluth. In between, you’ll find the itch to explore logging roads, secluded lakes, and backcountry options that have spectacular scenic views and wildlife.

Maps & Current Trail Conditions

Can’t Miss Pit-Stops

Shredding trails are the main attraction, of course, but that’s only half the fun. Here are some pit-stops that you should consider working into your route when riding the North Shore by sled.

Trestle Inn Restaurant & Saloon

Legends are true about the Trestle Inn. If you are lucky enough to find this place in the middle of nowhere, you won’t be disappointed. Rustic? Sort of, unique, very much so. The atmosphere, staff, and superb food make this place something to remember.

BoomTown Brewery & Woodfire Grill

Whether you end or start your ride from Duluth, you’ll need to stop into BoomTown, formally known as The Sunset Bar & Grill. Enjoy excellent comfort food and hearty craft beers.

Grand Superior Grill

Try the signature pan-fried walleye if you are in the mood for a little slice of heaven. Accessible by trail or pull in on your way up north with your truck and trailer for lunch or dinner. Enjoy a Northwoods atmosphere with an incredible Lake Superior view.

Tracks N Racks

Satisfy your competitive spirit with a stop at Tracks N Racks. Complete with a fleet of fun games, food, and drinks.

The Breeze Inn

A short detour off the C.J. Ramstad Trail on Prindle Rd. then down Jean Duluth Rd. you’ll find the best burger in the region! Plus, you can’t beat their beer selection.

Moguls Grille & Taproom

This is the perfect place to meet up with friends to warm up, relax, and enjoy great food, and have a cold one. Enjoy the outdoor firepits and winter village atmosphere before heading back on the trail.

With snow accumulating, you may want to consider making arrangements for an epic snowmobile trip. Grand Superior Lodge offers an ideal Northwoods cabin experience with the convenience of an onsite restaurant and bar. Caribou Highlands, our Lutsen Mountains property, provides a variety of lodging options, also with an onsite restaurant and bar. Lutsen Sea Villas has superior views of Lake Superior, and all three locations have convenient access to the North Shore State Trail.
