Experience one of the North Shore’s most unique fall fishing opportunities during Pink Salmon Weekend at Larsmont Cottages. Join expert angler and instructor Carl Haensel for a weekend of fly fishing education, hands-on fly tying, and time on the water chasing pink salmon along Minnesota’s North Shore.
Whether you’re new to fly fishing or looking to sharpen your skills, you’ll learn techniques you can put to use right away, then head to the river and give them a try.
Kick off the weekend with drinks, conversation, and an evening dedicated to North Shore fly fishing.

Learn about the pink salmon run, where to find fish, techniques for targeting them, and the flies that work. Then sit down at the vise and tie patterns to take with you to the river on Saturday.

Put Friday night’s lessons into action with a hands-on fly fishing workshop on a North Shore river.
Carl and the team will provide on-the-water education and help anglers learn how to find, approach, and fish for pink salmon. The exact river and fishing location will be selected based on current conditions and where anglers have the best opportunity to find fish.
Don’t have fly fishing gear? Equipment can be provided for participants who need it.

Carl Haensel is a fly fishing guide, educator, author, photographer, and the owner of Namebini. Based in northern Minnesota, Carl brings extensive experience fishing the waters of Minnesota and the Great Lakes region.
During Pink Salmon Weekend, Carl will share his knowledge of the North Shore fishery, from understanding the pink salmon run and choosing the right flies to techniques anglers can put into practice on the water.
