NORTH SHORE ADVENTURES WITH MARK
Being outside (inside too) and experiencing what your surroundings have to offer is an excellent way of staying positive and resilient. Especially with all that is going on today.
At Larsmont Cottages, we strive to give you a fantastic experience on our grounds, inside of your cottages, and our restaurant and lodge during your stay. But it doesn't stop there. We want to provide you with personal experiences that will help you end each day a little tired, a little full, and feeling like you have even learned a little something.
We hope to deliver experiences that you will remember fondly for the rest of your life.
Larsmont Cottages is a gateway to some of the best and most beautiful places on the North Shore. We will help plan an experience you can enjoy on your own or set you up with one of our talented guides.
We offer guided tours and shuttles so you will not have to think about a thing. Just enjoy the ride, and we will take you to some fantastic sights and some of the best food and drink the North Shore offers.
The idea is to take you to places that you might not think or know about—the secret places where the "locals" go. When you go where the locals go, you become one of us. We hope to help you find your place in our world, and if that means being on xc skis, a pair of snowshoes, on foot, or going along for the ride in our shuttle - we will make sure that you become one of us.
This will be a fun and adventurous winter at Larsmont and on the shore with the early snow. And we would really like you to be a part of it.
How to make the most of your Larsmont Cottages Vacation
After you show up:
Settle into your cottage or suite.
Come find one of our friendly staff and ask about their favorite North Shore adventures, guided experiences, or the available resort programming during your stay.
We have a friendly "choose your adventure" approach to making the most of your getaway for anyone interested. We're here to help you find the local flavor, regional flora, and fauna, and maybe even get a little exercise along Lake Superior's shore.
Always be prepared: Winter vacations on the North Shore
Winter Packing Checklist for Everyone
- An extra pair (or two) of warm socks
- A warm base layer
- Hat and gloves (you'd be surprised at how many people forget!)
- A battery pack for your phone (cool winter temps can drain your battery more rapidly than usual, and you want it available to take photos and video of the incredible scenery)
Optional Packing Add-ins for Adventurers
- Traction devices for your boots
- Cross country skis
- Fat bike - there are miles of trails nearby
- Ice climbing gear
We will also be throwing in tips for variety. Be it that perfect, hidden trail, an easy to get to drive, and maybe even a recipe or two.
It is the goal to make reading this blog both informative and fun at the same time. We will do our best to keep it current so that anything we put here will be relative to the time you will be spending here.
We'd love your input on what we cover. If there is something you always wanted to do on the North Shore but didn't know where to start - let us know on Facebook, and we will do our best to share everything you need to know.
We promise that all of the upcoming blogs will be full of more fun stuff, helpful information, and even some north shore eye candy to make you go "Ooooooooh. Let's go to the North Shore now!"
As an avid outdoorsman Mark has explored the North Shore from Duluth to Grand Portage. And he's ready to spill the beans on the region's best hikes, vistas, and adventures. Stay tuned to his blog for trail reports, new activities, and more.
